BSF seizes heroin worth Rs 100 crore on Indo-Pak border in Punjab

punjab-borderTarn Taran, -  Border Security Force  (BSF) Tuesday seized 20 kg of heroin, worth Rs 100 crore in international market.

 

The force has also seized two pistols, two magazines, seventeen rounds of ammunition and two Pakistan made phones including two sim cards from the Indo-Pak international border near BSF outpost Wan, 35 km from Tarn Taran.

 

The smugglers however managed to escape taking advantage of darkness and grown crop of wheat across the border.

 

During a press conference, held at Amarkot, BSF’s DIG of Ferozepur sector, Mr. RK Thapa said, in the intervening night of April 13 and 14, BSF observed some suspicious movement, where some smugglers were trying to insert a plastic pipe from across the border towards India.

 

He said the BSF challenged them to stop movement but they did not pay any heed and continued their aggressive posture.

 

He further said, when BSF troops fired across the border they managed to escape by taking cover of darkness and grown crop of wheat.

 

The area was immediately cordoned off and during the search of the area 20 packet of heroin, one kg each, two pistols (Spain and Chines made respectively), two magazines of pistol, 17 round of ammunition, two Pakistani made mobile with sim cards were recovered, he said.
